Who are we?
Griffin Lighting Solutions Inc. is a Vancouver based company (BC, Canada) dedicated to creating and building useful tools and solutions for film/TV/stage lighting.
GLS originated from my frustrations with the current lack of the quick/convenient tools I needed for my full time job as a IATSE 891 Lamp Op.
I have a wide breadth of experience in the tools/technologies that make the film industry tick. I've worked on everything from the lights/control system powering the "Steel Suit" from Superman & Lois to wireless LED lanterns found in The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina. This experience has allowed me to design/build everything from DMX consoles to Wireless LED Decoders.
What is a DMX Spy?
DMX Spy is a line of devices which make viewing/validating DMX data quick and painless. Designed with technicians in mind, DMX Spys are simple but powerful tools made for quick problem solving when time matters most.

What is DMX?
DMX (DMX512) data is the backbone of modern lighting, used to transmit information between lighting consoles and lamps/dimmers/decoders etc.
DMX data consists of 512 data "slots," which each contain a decimal value from 0-255. These data slots can be used to transmit intensity/color/movement/etc, as the generic data is used for specific parameters of the device.
What is a DMX Universe?
A group of 512 DMX data "slots" is referred to as a universe. Multiple universes are often used for groupings of DMX devices. For example, dimmer packs, fly-pipes, or moving lights could be separated into their own universes. Universes are sorted by their own unique number.
What is a Universe Indicator?
The industry standard practice of matching the level of DMX address 512 to the universe which it occupies. (Uni 1 -> 1%, Uni 10 -> 10% etc...)
